  1. Install and activate the WP Mail SMTP plugin (by WPForms) from Plugins, Add New.

  2. Open WP Mail SMTP, Settings and set:

    Field Value
    From Email wordpress@acme.com (on your verified domain)
    Force From Email on
    From Name your site name
    Mailer Other SMTP
  3. In the SMTP section:

    Field Value
    SMTP Host smtp.spacepost.dev
    Encryption TLS
    SMTP Port 25976
    Auto TLS on
    Authentication on
    SMTP Username spacepost
    SMTP Password your SpacePost API key

    TLS means STARTTLS here. Do not pick SSL: implicit TLS (port 465) is not offered yet.

  4. Save, then open Email Test and send a message to delivered@test.spacepost.dev or your own address.

Instead of storing the key in the database, define constants in wp-config.php:

define( 'WPMS_ON', true );
define( 'WPMS_MAIL_FROM', 'wordpress@acme.com' );
define( 'WPMS_MAIL_FROM_FORCE', true );
define( 'WPMS_MAILER', 'smtp' );
define( 'WPMS_SMTP_HOST', 'smtp.spacepost.dev' );
define( 'WPMS_SMTP_PORT', 25976 );
define( 'WPMS_SSL_TLS', 'tls' );
define( 'WPMS_SMTP_AUTH', true );
define( 'WPMS_SMTP_USER', 'spacepost' );
define( 'WPMS_SMTP_PASS', 'sp_live_YOUR_API_KEY' );
